P320 Xcarry Legion - There doesn't seem to be any worldwide reviews of the P320 X-Carry Legion, mostly the usual press release that came out a few months ago, and tons of "unboxing" videos, so I thought. I will start here. If you own a Legion X-Transport, feel free to participate.
First, I have to come clean and eat crow - when this pistol first came out, I really didn't get it. It struck me as a "carrying" gun that didn't seem like it was meant to be carried. The specs made it quite heavy and it had a high adjustable rear sight that was more suitable for a variety of toys. From the looks of it, it looks like it's really built as a competition pistol, but why not get the full X-5 and the benefits of a longer barrel?

So I was at LGS yesterday, sold some stuff and had some health credits to spend, and started watching the show. It didn't really bother me, but out of curiosity I asked to handle the Legion X-Transport. I used to have an early X-5 (pre-Legion) and an X-Compact, and still have an RXP X-Complete, so the X-grip is nothing new to me and I love it. But what really surprised me when I was able to pick it up was how surprised I was. I've been getting used to shooting very light polymer rifles lately, and it feels like I just picked up a steel pistol. But it wasn't too heavy - it felt nice and big. It feels like every other X frame I've picked up and I love how new and different it is at the same time. I put it back on the counter, and moved around a bit, but nothing interested me like X-Carry Legion.
Review: Sig Sauer P320 X Five Legion
The price is $899, and when you look at everything you get with this pistol, plus 3 mags with Henning Group baseplates, this is not a very expensive gun. With the store credit I already had, plus the fact that I already had a set of P320 mags and holsters that would work, it was a no-brainer.
I threw out the Springer Precision mag release I already had, and pulled the Romeo 1 Pro out of my other P320 and headed to the range. The optic only needs a little adjustment to be dead. I put 150 rounds of 115gr Winchester through it with no problem. Recoil significantly reduces the weight of the frame, as expected. The closest thing I can compare it to is a steel shot P229 - it's very controllable, and while I'm not going to let it spin in this first session, I can see how it can run as fast as you want to build it.
The trigger is better than the standard P320 trigger in the box. Its input is clean and short, with minimal pauses and minimal reset trips. The mushy pull I felt on the standard P320 trigger is not there. Trigger weight is 2lbs 12oz. I understand that people might think it's too light for a "carry" pistol, but I mean, that's a personal matter.
These tungsten X frames are very interesting, and if you're a traditional metal pistol guy, but want to try a polymer striker, this is for you - it's a unique beast. it's not like you're handling a plastic gun. While I wouldn't choose the Legion X-Carry as my CCW of choice, I'm pretty sure it's like a carry/open carry pistol. It's not light, but it's not so heavy that carrying it with a good holster/belt combo can be a chore. And of course, the beauty of the P320 system is that you can always have tungsten-free modules to spare when you plan to carry it for long periods of time, and swap modules in seconds.

So far, I'm very impressed with Legion X-Transport, although I'm afraid it might not really 'take off', because too many people are looking at it and jumping to the same conclusions I first did. . My thinking is very different now, and I think that if you want a non-specialist racing gun that loses its handling/defense capabilities, this pistol might be hard to beat. It can be distinguished by two equals.
I'd love to hear about other people's experiences, and I'll post updates as I spend more time with this pistol.
Thanks for the review - I was thinking of one of these as a fun base with speakers. I ran one in the LGS the other day, and I really enjoyed the short-throw usage of the flat trigger setup. The heft feels good, and the wide opening of the testicles makes it great for competitions and periods. Apparently opening the magwell will make it harder for the CCW to print...

But it only comes with a single Allen bolt, and can be easily removed in seconds. Or, as I mentioned above, you can have a second custom grip template for the CCW. It was literally a 30 second exchange.

It doesn't - it has a standard P320 4.6" barrel, which I'm really happy about, because I don't think it's necessary to add more weight to this pistol. It might make more sense, but then again, it is what it is. needed by the X-5 Legion.

I wanted to try a higher pressure load, as I wasn't expecting the standard 115 gr FMJ pressure to show how effective this little comp would be. So I took some 124 gr +P NATO cartridges from the arsenal and tried them out:

The bullet jumped a bit, which could be because I dialed in the red dot last week with a normal pressure 115 gr load and/or the +P is just a high POI. Anyway I'm happy with the group, because of the pistol I'm a 2nd shot and still getting used to it.
Did the Mini Comp work? I haven't shot the X-Carry Legion with the 124 +P load before without the comp to be able to compare properly, but I can say that these rounds are very light for +P and there was almost no recoil to speak of. the. Maybe the TXG frame did a great job of dampening the recoil, or the Mini Comp did its job, but I feel like it's a combination of the two.
Anyway, I'm pretty impressed with this pistol. It's a lot of fun to shoot, and very 'powerful'. I've shot the VP9 OR before, and while I enjoyed the VP9, it just didn't compare. This Legion X-Transport is probably the best rebel gun I've ever owned.
Thank you for writing this. I don't know Micro comp. I need to look into that. I've only fired my X-Carry Legion twice so far but it holds up well compared to other pistols I've owned in the past. I always wish I liked my hammer guns better, but I do the same or better with this Legion and my Canik TP9SFX.

We must be brothers from different mothers...I have both Legion X-Transport and VP9 OR. Was thinking of getting the Griffin Micro Comp for both since they are a deal. I have a Herrington Arms compass with a full size TXG grip model, and I love it. He thought of using the micro-com in the construction of transportation. Are they indexed? My first thought was how does the exhaust go all the way without an index?
I have a Legion X-Five with optics and TLR-1 and I think that the X-Carry with the concept and without optics, there is no softer light than the X-Five. The next shot is easier.
